Obituary of Steven A. Chipko
On May 10th, 2020 Steven A Chipko, passed away at the home of his daughter Elaine. Surrounded by a loving family he peacefully joined his wife in Heaven.
Stephen, was born and raised in Rockaway, to the late Stephen & Mary Chipko. He proudly served in the United States Marines in World War II. Returning home he married Elizabeth, known and loved as “Betty”. They settled in Denville, NJ together and raised four daughters.
Steven a hard worker, had a lifetime career as a plumber and steamfitter, he retired in 1981 from the Union/ Local #274, of Morristown, NJ. He loved hunting and fishing, and taking care of his yard. Stephen, dearly loved his wife of 69 years and took pride in his family. Not only was his role a husband and father, but also a grandfather, great grandfather, and a great-great grandfather.
Stephen is predeceased by his Wife, parents and sister. He leaves only joyful memories to his adored daughters, Frances Chipko-Norman and her husband Richard of Mt. Arlington NJ, Carol Chipko of Gilbert, PA, Elaine Kahl and Kenny MacDonald of Jefferson NJ and Lisa Johnson of Mt. Pocono, PA; his cherished 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
Graveside Service will be held on October 10th at 11 am at St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Academy Street, Rockaway, NJ 07866. In lieu of Flowers, please make a donation in his honor directly to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Steven here to continue to celebrate the life he shared with us.
