Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Alfred Tone, Jr. passed away peacefully on April 26, 2020 at Morristown Medical Center. He had shared 75 years of hard work, dedication, love and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born in Orange, New Jersey to the late John A. Tone, Sr. and Elizabeth Marie Tone (Bruno), he was one of four children to bless the Tone household. After graduating West Orange High School in 1962, John proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps for three years, receiving an Honorable Discharge as a Sargent and excelling as a weapons marksman. He then married Thelma Dupree of Sylvester, Ga. in 1966.  He later attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where he graduated Magnum cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree. His career took him from a clerk in Monroe Business Products to Vice President of Operations at Kyocera Mita.

John was the proud father of Donna and John who gifted him with three grandchildren, Andrew, Kaitlyn and Joelle and a great grand-daughter, Violet. Family was his greatest joy and was affectionately nicknamed “Poppy” by his grandchildren. Golfing with great friends was a pleasure of his for many years. Some of those friendships spanning more than 50 years.

He leaves joyful memories to his beloved wife of 53 years, Thelma; his loving children, Donna and her husband Don and John and his wife Faith; his siblings, Janice Wolf and her husband Thomas and Gary Tone and his wife Lynn; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  He is predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Marie Tone (Bruno), his father, John Alfred Tone Sr. and his brother, Robert Tone.

Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of John to continue to celebrate the life he shared with us.
