Obituary of Evelyn B Smith
Evelyn B. Smith passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home at Heath Village in Hackettstown.
Born and raised in Brooklyn as the only child to the late John and Lillian Spoth, she has been a lifelong resident of the Rainbow Lakes section of Parsippany. Evelyn graduated High School and then went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Hofstra University in Long Island. On December 24, 1952 she married William Smith and together they raised their family in Rainbow Lakes. She had a very successful career as a Teacher to help support her household and was a wonderful homemaker as well.
Evelyn never met a stranger; she loved to converse with new people and always walked away with a new best friend. A true joy to her family, they were always #1 in her world. Our social butterfly was a dedicated and compassionate mother, grandmother, and friend. She shared 90 years of unconditional love, laughter, and amazing memories with family and friends. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
Predeceased by her husband William in 1993 and adored daughter, Susan Barbara Smith in 1974, she leaves only joyful memories to her loving children, Debra (the late James) Sokolowsky and Scott (Margaret) Smith; her cherished grandchildren, Jacob (Lela) Smith, Amanda (Dillon) Northam, Julia Smith, and William Smith; her treasured great-grandson, James Smith; and many more extended family and friends.
All services will be private. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Evelyn’s name to The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by way of www.inmemof.org. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Evelyn here to continue to celebrate the life she shared with us.
