Obituary of Henry Barzda

Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Henry “Hank” Barzda, of Denville, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Brightview Senior Living in Randolph. He was just a few weeks shy of sharing 88 years of love, laughter, and amazing memories with family and friends.

Born and raised in the Maspeth section of Queens, NY, to the late Anthony and Frances Barzda, he was one of two children to bless the Barzda household. After graduating Livingston Manor High School in New York State, he proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps in the Korean War during combat. Upon his honorable discharge he was awarded the Purple Heart, amongst many other medals. He married the love of his life, Janet Ritter on June 29th in 1961. They settled in Staten Island to begin their beautiful family before relocating to Rockaway Township until Hank retired in 1996 from Coltec Industries. After retirement, Janet and Hank moved to Wellington,FL for almost 20 years before coming back home to be closer to family. The most important things in Hank’s life were family, faith, and service. He will be sorely missed and forever treasured in our hearts.

He leaves only joyful memories to his beloved of 59 years, Janet; his loving 4 children, cherished 9 grandchildren, and two adored great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian of Burial will be held on Monday, February 17th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester. Memorial Donations are being accepted to the Wounded Warrior Project by way of www.inmemof.org. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Hank here to continue to celebrate the life he shared with us.
