John N. Burlew, 67, passed away on Tuesday Jan. 29, 2008 at Saint Clares Hospital, Denville, NJ. Mr. Burlew was born in Bronx, NY grew up in Hackensack, and was a resident of White Meadow Lake section of Rockaway Township since 1974. Mr. Burlew was a United States Navy veteran serving on the USS Sierra and attended many of their reunions. Mr. Burlew started his career as a linemen and became a Supervisor for the utility companies; PSE&G Co. in Hudson County for 10 years and JCP&L for 24 years retiring from the Boonton Division Line in 1996. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailor, the USS Sierra Association, Hill Top Club in Dover, was the Rockaway Township Co-Coordinator and Coach for the Hockey Team, a coach in football and Little League Baseball, was a Past Director of the White Meadow Lake Country Club, member of the ROMEO (retired old men eating out), loved to cook, cruise, and go to Las Vegas, and a member of St. Cecilias Church. His sister Mary Rimol predeceased him. His wife Joan V. Burlew, his sons Matthew A. Burlew and his wife Jennifer of Elkton, MD and Mark N. Burlew and his wife Gina of Cantonsville, MD, his three grandchildren Corryn, Morgan, and Nathan John, his sister Irene Grebe of Allamuchy and many nieces and nephews survive him. The funeral will be conducted from the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, J www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of John on web site), on Saturday Feb. 2nd at 9:45am for a 11:00am Liturgy of Christian Burial service at St. Cecilias Church, Rockaway, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received on Friday Feb. 1st from 2-6PM. In lieu of flowers donations to your favorite charity would be appreciated.
