John,
The years our gang spent together on the USS SIERRA were three of the most rewarding years of our lives, in large measure because of the camaraderie you inspired. We really missed you when you left for civilian life, and we miss you even more today. It was a great honor to have been your friend.

Joan,
I am sorry John and yourself had to go through so much pain. From all you told me about John, he sounded like such a well-rounded person, he loved family, loved to go to the week at the beach with everyone, worked so hard for his family and could have fun also. Your sons and daughters-in-law and grandchildren, and other relatives, and your friends will be here for you. You can look back on those wonderful years of marriage.
Sincerely,
Jane

Mark,
Please accept my condolences for your loss. Sometimes its hard to understand why things like this happen. I know the empty feeling I had when my father passed and still have now. Time helps heal the wounds but they never completely go away. But then, maybe they shouldn't so we can remember the good times. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

One of things I will always remember John for is filling up the wine glasses! I feel truly blessed to have so many wonderful memories of John, Joan, Skip and myself. He was a very compasionate man that could never do enough for his family and friends. I could go on and on about all the wonderful things he did for Skip and I.
Now I pray that his family has the strength to remember the good times. I feel deep in my heart that John and Skip have met and are loving their heaven! You know they will be watching the superbowl on Sunday. Yes, John and Skip, "Go Giants"!
