George Kushner, 95
Great Grandfather, Veteran
George Kushner died on January 15, 2008 at Merry Heart Nursing Home. Born and raised in Paterson, NJ, he resided in Pompton Lakes before moving to Toms River, Succasunna, and Boonton Township.
In his twenties he was a leader in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Elmore, Vermont. He later served in the United States Navy during World War II in Hawaii from 1944- 1945.
He was an avid reader, gardener, fisherman and a faithful husband and father. He served in many church committees and participated in Bible Studies, and most recently as a member of the King of Kings Lutheran Church.
Rose, his beloved wife of 66 years, his two daughters, Ellen Kushner and Karen Rembisz, died previously, as did his 4 siblings.
Survivors include his daughter and son-inlaw Linda and Craig Clark of Denville and his grandchildren Katherine and Rachel Clark of Denville, Stanley and Tracey Rembisz of Virginia, and Kristi and John Brandom of Virginia, and his great grandchildren Jacob, Matthew, Samuel, Johnny, Karli, Katie, and Joshua, his soninlaw Stanley Rembisz and his wife Cheryl of Virginia and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the King of Kings Lutheran Church, Rt 46 West Mountain Lakes, NJ on Saturday Jan. 19th at 9:30AM. Friends may greet the family at 9:00AM before the service. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Clifton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to King of Kings Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the NJ Foundation for he Blind.
