David Barrett Jr, 71, died at New York University Medical Center, New York City, NY on Monday July 9, 2007.
Mr. Barrett was born in the Bronx, NY and was a resident of the Indian Lake section of Denville, NJ. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at William Paterson State College in 1975. Mr. Barrett served during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. Mr. Barrett enjoyed a prominent career for 45 years in the Financial Printing Industry employed at Chas. P. Young Co., Daniels Printing, and Merrill Corporation all in New York City, retiring one year ago. He had a passion for real estate development and construction, building and operating several projects throughout his life. He was a member of the Denville VFW Post No. 2519, an active member of the New York National Spearfishing Team, an avid fisherman and Golfer and member of Essex County Country Club, a Harley Davidson enthusiast, a private airplane pilot and owned and operated his own plane, enjoyed tailgating with friends and family at New York Jets football games.
Dearest to him was spending time and enjoying his family, friends and neighbors. Mr. Barrett was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mountain Lakes, NJ.
Mr. Barrett is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cathy Barrett, his children, Dr. David Barrett III and his wife Karin of Rockaway Twp., William S. Barrett and his wife Jennifer of Rockaway Twp., and Demetria Glaab and her husband Curtis of Denville, his eight grandchildren, Curtis, Sean, Christopher, Lauren, Briana, Beth, Kristin, and Julia, his sister Rita Manley of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted from the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave, Denville, NJ www.normandean.com (light a candle on web site in memory of David) on Saturday at 10:00am for a 11:00am Liturgy of Christian Burial Services at St. Catherine of Siena Church Mountain Lakes, NJ. Interment services at Denville Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
