78, Beloved Wife, Mother, Cake Decorator
Elaine R. Varker, 78, passed away Thursday June 14th, 2007 at her home in Rockaway Township, NJ after courageously battling cancer for months.
Mrs. Varker was born in 1928 in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Theodore and Bertha Kohler. She attended school in Colmar, and graduated from the Lansdale High School, PA.
She worked as a dietician at several hospitals in Philadelphia area and later as a Homemaker-Home Health Aide in Morris County. In 1982 she became a certified Food Service Supervisor granted by the New Jersey State Department of Health. In 1991 she received a Homemaker-Home-Health Aide of the Year award granted by the Home Care Council of New Jersey.
Mrs. Varker was an active member of the United Methodist Women of the Denville Community Church, United Methodist. She served the Church as Food Sanitation Supervisor for several years prior to her death. She was a member of the Rockaway Township Fire Department White Meadow Lake Ladies Auxiliary Fire Company #5. She loved to decorate cakes having received many acclaims for her unique creative designs. She received a letter of commendation from the CEO of Foster Wheeler Corporation for two large cakes she created in celebration of the Corporations 100th anniversary in 1991.
Surviving are her husband Fred D. Varker, a son F. James Varker of Rockaway Township, three sisters, Mrs. Claire Gantz of Dallas, PA, Mrs. Isabel Lehman of Sellersville, PA and Mrs. Sandra Meyers of Haddonfield, NJ and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friend are invited to attend the Memorial Services on Saturday June 23, 2007 at 11:00AM at the Denville Community United Methodist Church, 190 Diamond Spring Road, Denville, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
