I was thinking about Mr. Tarchak today. I had him for biology when I was a freshman (1971-2) and enjoyed his dry sense of humor and teaching immensely. He found out a nickname my friends called me and he kept the nickname alive by calling me that for the next four years, much to my chagrin! I am late to offer my condolences but I am sorry for your loss but also wanted to let you know that Ray touched many lives in his teaching career, and I will always remember him fondly.

Ray changed my life by offering advice and directing me. He was an all around good guy, and though I haven't seen him in a very long time, I remember him as a good friend to my father and a pretty decent tipper at Harvey's. I am sure there is a good party tonight in heaven.

I was so saddened to learn yesterday of Mr. Tarchak's passing.
I was a student of Mr. Tarchak's during the 1990-1991 school year at Morris Knolls. I was a very nervous and anxious freshman, and I was even more nervous after meeting Mr. Tarchak on my first day!
However, I quickly learned and saw that his bark was much bigger than his bite. He was so funny, and he did have a big heart. Some of my best memories of high school involved Mr. Tarchak. Watching him throw a classmate's lab report out a window, squirting the same classmate with a water hose, making fun of my 2 band directors...Mr. T. gave me many of my biggest laughs while at MK...and when I needed them most.
Also at MK, I volunteered time in the library and got to know Ms. Tarchak. She and I also had plenty of laughs together during my 4 years in school. She's a lovely lady, and both of the Tarchak's were always very special to me.
To Steven, Lisa, and Ms. Tarchak - my heart goes out to you all. May it help in some small way to know that Mr. T. impacted my life, and I always think of him with fondness.
