Margaret "Meg" H. Hughes
Meg Hughes, 55, passed into eternity on Friday, August 22, after a brief illness at Raritan Bay Regional Hospital, Old Bridge NJ. She was born in Denville on July 7 1959 and attended local public schools for 12 years. She was a resident of a group home run by the Developmental Disabilities Agency of New Jersey in Matawan, NJ. Meg was a loyal worker at various job sites run by the Easter Seals Raritan Valley Workshop until she retired in 2013 after which she attended the Five Star Medical Daycare.
Meg was the youngest of seven children of the late Arthur and MaryRose (Sheridan) Hughes, long-time residents of Denville. She is survived by five siblings: older brothers, Brian (Gloria Ferrari) Hughes of Forest, VA; Jonathan (Emalyn Roth) Hughes of Jenks, OK; Gregory (Linda) Hughes of Missouri City, TX; and Kenneth (Mary-Ann) Hughes of Lowell, MA; and sister Lisa (Hughes) and Jim Petr of Seattle, WA. Another sister, Marianne Hughes, of Houston TX, pre-deceased Meg in 2011.
Meg was the beloved "Aunt Meg" to 34 nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews: Brian's children Barrie (Hughes) and Randy Hogue of Friendswood, TX and her daughters Mary Kate and Meggie Beth, Brian Hughes of Hoboken, NJ; Jonathan's children Kimberlie (Hughes) Meyer and her children, Zachery, Seth, Noah, and Mei Li, of Tulsa, OK; Alexis Hughes of Jakarta, Indonesia; Shana Hughes of Jenks, OK, and Joshua Hughes of Tulsa; Greg's children Lori Hughes (deceased 2011), Jennifer (Hughes) and Fernando Hernandez and sons Diego and Pablo of Houston, and Kenny of Houston; Ken's daughters Jessica Hughes of Boston MA, Caroline (Hughes) and Nick Wilder of Boston, MA; Laura (Hughes) and Scott Clemmer of Austin TX; Lisa's children Sheridan (Lytle) and Chris Hodkins of Denver, CO, Melissa Lytle of Bixby, OK, Gregg and Jessica Lytle and their children Elliot and Graham of Edmund, OK, Jonathan and Sarah Lytle of Seattle, WA, Kaylan (Lytle) and Travis Phillips of Indianapolis, IN.
Meg was a bright light to all the members of her immediate family as well as her large extended family. Throughout her life, her innocence and excitement at even "ordinary" events helped us all remember how blessed we have been by her joyful spirit. Meg made us smile. She was a treasure to all who knew her. A time of remembrance will be held at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ, on Saturday, August 30 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
