My brothers and I are so sad to know our Cousin Dee is no longer in this world. She had a special place in our childhood - the only cousin we knew and saw every Christmas. I know she was a wonderful mother and that Nina, Joy and Chris will always miss her. My condolences to them, my Uncle Dale and Aunt Vesta, and to Ken.

Nina, my cherished college roommate, and Joy and Chris, all I can say is: I've always been inspired and in awe of the spirit that flows throughout your family. There is a special energy that vibrates around all of you, fiercely independent individuals forging your own paths with strict yet joyous regard for your inner passions. Never have I met a family so saturated with creativity and vibrancy. It is obvious that your mother cherished her children and infused all of you with a burning light that you will carry with you always. I am blessed to know you. I cannot know your loss, but please know my love for all of you.

We lived down the street from Dale. My sister suffered from the same brain tumor and also died at the age of 62 three years ago. I know personally how devastating this ordeal has been for your family. I did not know Dale very well but would like to offer my condolences.

I am so sorry to hear that Dale, my dear friend, has finally succumbed to the scourge of this dreadful disease after a courageous battle. Almost 50 years ago, she invited me to live with her family in Locust Valley, which certainly changed the course of my life. I would like to think that I learned from her resilience; I surely was shaped by her positive attitude and strength of character.
We shared many family vacations over the years, and our children have called called us aunt and uncle. I've always called her my sister and was honored that she considered me a brother. We shared some wonderful happiness and profound sadness over the years, and I have dreaded this final sadness for the last year and a half; however, I am heartened to imagine her free from the horrible disease. I am very thankful that I was able to tell her how much she has meant to me at Joy's wonderful wedding last August and to see her surrounded by family and friends and so happy on that day.
The love and care of her children, friends, and extended family has been heroic over the past year and a half; however, it is not surprising. She always brought out the best in the people she has known and her unique spirit will certainly continue to exert that positive influence. I will miss her terribly and extend condolences to all who will feel this sad loss. Dale was blessed with long-term close friends, who were there for her through the course of the disease. I extend heartfelt condolences to Ken Kelsch, her long-time friend and former husband, whose strength and strength of character have been such an important support for Dale and their children through this process. My heart breaks for her close family: her children Nina, Joy, Chris, and Scott, who will all feel this loss so profoundly; and her father, Dale, whose support and closeness to his daughter has been a model for how I aspire to behave with my son.
I will miss Dale, who has been so much a part of my family; I know many others will feel this loss deeply, as well. Finally, my condolences to her extended friends and family. Her wonderful spirit extended friendship and love beyond traditionally-defined relationships. We are all so blessed to have shared that love with her.

Dear Nina, Chris, Joy, Mike, Ken, Joe and the pups too, We are all so deeply saddened to hear of Dale's long battle with brain cancer is over and now the good Lord our God has taken her home to live in peace with no more pain and suffering. You were all the reason Dale could bear this illness with what she had to deal with because of all your love, constant strength and support throughout this perilous, but mostly happy, joyful times to live through life. Please know that our love, prayers and our support at this very sad and difficult time is there with you all. We will never forget Dale who was one amazing Mother, friend and wonderful neighbor to us. There is another star in heaven that shines more brightly then all the others, it's Dale shining brightly there forever and ever! Our deepest Sympathy and Love with you always, Ginny and Bill McCrink

Dearest Nina, Joy and Chris.. Our condolences don't scratch the surface of our heartfelt thoughts and feelings for your loss. We are thinking of you .... and praying that your amazing strength continues to serve you during the days of grief to come. Dale was an amazing woman and the ultimate loving Mom. But of course you know that.....
She lived to see and be proud of the children she raised perform so well. That is the greatest gift you have given her...
Each of you was there for her in her time of need, and at great personal sacrifice. The love and comfort you gave her was felt to the depth of her being and made her transition more peaceful. She is free now, free of the pain and worry of this lifetime, and joyful that you guys will continue as such stellar young adults... that is the fulfillment of the concept of Mother. We are so proud and in awe of you. Dale will be truly missed by so many...we are always here for you.
Love to you, Cathy and Peter
