Obituary of John Charles Marshall
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Charles Marshall, on Monday, December 14, 2015. He was 62 years old and died on the farm he was born on in Boonton Twp., NJ.
From an early age, John loved working with his family on the farm, after graduating from Boonton High School he went to work as a master mechanic and welder as he had a nack with tools and enjoyed tinckering and working with and on the heavy equipment. He was quite creative and could fix anything. Never sleeping in, John believed in “the early bird catches the worm.” He started his days early, worked hard and enjoyed a nice dinner at the end of each day.
John was a big man with a “larger than life” heart. His love for children and animals was evident wherever he went. He had a gentle way about him that made even the smallest of creatures comfortable under his large stature. John could often be found sitting in his yard surrounded by deer, squirrels and birds feeding right out of his hands. He also loved helping his parents as they aged at home. Generous with his time, John also traveled around helping many of his friends throughout the day.
When he wasn’t donating his time to friends or having children wonder at him, he worked with his family running Hillside Farms on Oak Road in Boonton Twp. and helping his father and brother in taking care of Rockaway Valley Cemetery.
As per his wishes, he will be buried with his brother Jim in the family plot in Rockaway Valley Cemetery. Private Arrangements under the direction of the Norman Dean Home for Services in Denville, NJ. In John’s memory, we ask that you take a moment out of every day to enjoy the nature around you or improve the life of a child with a smile and an encouraging word.
