Lesler Young Wunderly, 92 passed away on Wednesday April 18, 2012 at Merry Heart Nursing Home, Boonton Township, NJ
Mr. Wunderly was born in Nazareth, PA was a resident of Belleville moving to Denville in 1950. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant during WWII. He received his Certificate of Aircraft and Engine Mechanic at the Casey Jones School of Aeronautics in Newark, NJ. He was employed at Curtis Wright Corporation in Caldwell and Woodbridge as a Propeller and Engine Mechanic. He became Supervisor of the Jet Engine Overhaul Department. In 1968 he was Crew Chief at Caldwell Airport of the Experimental Aircraft “X-19”, which was the first Vertical Takeoff Prop Plane. Today it is called the Marin’s OSPRAY. He was a member of the V.F. W. Post 2519.
He was predeceased by his wife Henrika J. Wunderly in 2005.
He is survived by his son Craig Wunderly of Hackettstown, his daughters, Leslie Bachman of Meridan, Miss, and Gail Weinberg of Bath, PA, and his 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, and his sister Doris Bond of Stroudsburg, PA.
Lesler’s funeral will be conducted at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ, www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Lesler on website), on Monday April 23rd 11AM, interment Laurelwood Cemetery Stroudsburg, PA. Relatives and friends will be received Sunday April 22nd at the funeral home from 2-5PM. In lieu of flowers donations to V.F.W. Post 2519 71 Ford Road, Denville, NJ 07834 would be appreciated.
