77, husband, father
Daniel W. Chuff went home to be with his Lord, on February 13th, after surviving his battle with cancer but succumbing to the effects of chemotherapy.
He was born October 25, 1934, in Scranton, PA, to Matthew and Edna (nee Howell) Chuff. Because his parents were unable to pay the doctor, for his birth, the doctor asked to have the baby named after him; Dr. Daniel Webster. He was also known by his nickname "Snicky."
Daniel's family relocated, to Bloomfield, NJ, from Dunmore PA. He resided in Bloomfield for 17 years before moving to Orange in 1956, Clifton in 1958, East Orange in 1969, and finally Denville in May of 1971.
He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1953 (being the first member of his family to graduate from high school). Daniel enlisted in the United States National Guard where he became a rifle marksman/instructor, at Fort Dix, and served for 9 years.
He had worked for North American Philips (formerly the Westinghouse Light Division), in Bloomfield, for almost 50 years, as a tool and die maker and lead supervisor.
He married Rosemarie (nee LaGrotteria), on November 17th, 1956 at Lady Help Of Christians, in East Orange. On November 27th, 1957, their only child, Annamarie was born.
Daniel enjoyed photography and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved traveling within the United States and abroad. In addition, he had a great fondness for cars and owned mostly Cadillacs. He also was a great cook and enjoyed playing cards and dominoes and going to casinos. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, of 47 years, Rosemarie "Roey," in 2003; his brother Matthew; and his sisters Gloria, Lorraine, and Mary.
He is survived by his daughter Annamarie and her husband William Osborne, of Lafayette, NJ; his sisters Evelyn, of Arizona, Elvera, of Georgia, brother Joseph of Clifton, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine Church in Mountain Lakes on Friday, February 17, at 9:30 a.m. Interment is in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Hours of visitation are at Norman Dean Funeral Home, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, on Thursday, from 4-8 p.m.
