Andi and Family,
So very sorry to learn about the passing of Mrs. Bias. She was a wonderful woman who (with Mr. Bias) created an extraordinary family. She had such an inviting way about her with a great smile. She offered me food whenever I came over which is probably why I kept coming back. ;-) j/k God Bless to all of you. Andi – You and you’re family are in my thoughts and prayers.

She worked the ER and I on 4A nights. We exchanged the patients with broken bones. If the ER was slow she would come up to see if you needed help ...She joined the night crew and participated in the practical jokes we played. She was good to her patients and you better not goof off with care. Barbara was a fighter and a great person to know. You'll have the angels laughing I am sure

I have many fond memories of spending time with Barbara and her family. I remember taking the bus from Elizabeth to Linden with my mom on a
Sunday and watching the bull fights. I also remember Barbara rescuing me and my mom (not sure if Susan was there) when Exxon had an explosion. I remember my dad having to go to work at Exxon and us having no real idea where he was. Barbara once again came to our rescue and picked us up in her blue VW Beetle late at night and taking us to her house with no questions asked. She took care of us until it was safe for us to go home. There are so many memories of Barbara like going to the Halloween parade every year in Linden with her and the kids and about 10 years ago her helping to take care of my mom when she broke her hip and making pierogis together. I can go on and on.... I will never forget her great laugh, her making jokes and always making us laugh, and always being there when you needed her. She was a very special special person and obviously loved by everyone who also have wonderful memories. My dear Barbara, I will remember you always and forever. You will surely be missed by everyone who had the chance to know you.

I must have been seven or eight. My sister Susan would have been around five, my mother was expecting Mary. Barbara picked the 3 ½ of us up at my grandmother’s house (we still lived there) in her VW beetle (a real one, before even the super beetle came along) and we went on a road trip. Neither my mother nor I can remember the destination, exactly. Might have been an overnight in Treskow, Aunt Mary’s house (Barbara’s mother in law). Clearly, getting there was almost all of the fun. I remember laughing a lot along the way, stopping at a couple of Stuart’s (incredible burgers and draft root beer, at least in my memory), stopping by the side of the highway to pick tiger lilies. In those days tiger lilies lined the old US highways in summer, and some root beer company or other had a drive-up every few miles. I told Barbara she was a “hydromatical genius” meaning she drove her car very well. The phrase was adapted from some automobile advertisement. She loved it. She laughed. She was always laughing, which made us all laugh, too. I remember wanting to never leave that car as long as she was driving.
Inevitably, of course, we returned to Thomas Street, my grandmother and Aunt Helen, my father probably still at work. I took Barbara to the back yard to show her the kiddie pool (maybe 18 inches deep). Then she got ready to leave. I think I held back my tears until she drove away. Maybe not that long. I do remember crying and crying for quite a while. It hurt a lot to see her leave. Still does.

Both myself and my husband, Carmine, will truly miss Barbara. She has been in my mother's life for over 40 years as an unconditional, intimate and caring friend and truly as a "second mother" to me. I just can't imagine that she will no longer be present at any affair, joking and laughing and being so happyy, whatever the occasion was. No words can describe how much I will miss Barbara. May she rest in peace with Nick with no pain and continue the beautiful life they had together. GOD bless them both !!
