John Charles Whiteside, 73, passed away after a short illness on Thursday April 28, 2011.
John was born in Manhattan, was a resident of Washington Heights, moved to Denville in 1968 where he raised his children, he became a resident of New York City and then Parsippany. He was a 1959 graduate of Manhattan College where he majored in Liberal Arts. John was a Regent of his fraternity, ABS while in Manhattan College and he was very proud to be a Jasper. John was a retired Insurance Executive who worked many years for the St. Paul-Seaboard Surety Company.
John is survived by his children, John Whiteside of Denville, Robert Whiteside and his wife Judy of Chatham, Anne Hamtil and her husband James of Whippany, and Eileen Potts and her husband Jeffrey of Vernon, his five grandchildren, Tommy Whiteside, Meghan Hamtil, Alec Reda, Brandon Reda, and Madyson Potts, his sister, Colleen Sullivan and her husband William of Naples, FL, and his companion Lauren Fransen of Queens, NY.
John’s funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ, www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of John on web site), on Tuesday May 3rd at 8:30am for a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial service at St. Mary’s Church, Denville, NJ, committal and interment service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. Relatives and friends will be received on Monday May 2nd at the funeral home from 2-4&7-9pm.
