Obituary of Fred V. Davis

Fred V. Davis Jr., 82, died on Monday Nov. 22, 2010 at the NJ Firemen's Home in Boonton, NJ.
Fred was born in Wharton and grew up in Succasunna, and graduated from Roxbury High School in 1946. He went on to McAllister School of Embalming and Funeral Management in New York City where he graduated in 1950.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He started the Davis Funeral Home in Succasunna in 1954 and operated until his retirement in 1982.
His life long passion of service to others was very important as he was a member and elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Succasunna, an exempt member of the Roxbury Fire Co. #1. He was a charter member and past president of the Rotary Club of Roxbury, and had received their Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1978.
He helped start the Dialysis Center of Northwest Jersey and had been a past president. He was also a charter member and a past President of the Morris County Funeral Directors Assoc. He was a member of the Musconetcong Masonic Lodge #151 F & AM in Budd Lake, NJ. American Legion Post #422 in Succasunna, and former member of the Roxbury Twp. Board of Health, and the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Assoc. in Chester.
His love for Photography brought him great joy and he was a member of the West Morris Camera Club.
His wife the late Margaret Peggy Washer died in 2002.
He is survived by his sister and her husband Ruth and Thomas Sacco of Denville, as well as a niece Sue and Peter Squire of Dingman's. Pa. and nephews Thomas and Maria Sacco of Denville, and Brian Chamberlain of Maryland. And five great nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be held on Sat. Nov. 27, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church 99 Main St. Succasunna, NJ. Friends may visit at the church one hour prior to services. Friends may visit with the family also on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ www.normandean.com .
