Helen Leamer is the only non-relative I ever called "Aunt". My late parents, my brother Robert and I go back with the Leamers to the Chicago years in the 1940s, when "Uncle" Laurence and my father taught in the College at the University of Chicago. I was about 3 when "Uncle Laurence" got drafted for WWII, but after the war, the Keohanes and the Leamers took up just where we'd left off.
"Aunt" Helen was intelligent, warm, sensible, unflappable, and simply wonderful to be around.
It's been a blessing to have known her.

Ed,Larry,Bob and all the Leamer family,
The Lopke family have many fond memories of your Mom during her time on Torrance Ave. My Mom Frances especially recalls the cruise she and John were on with Helen and Laurence. Mom and I always enjoyed hearing from her during her time in Denville.
She will be missed. May she rest in peace.

I met Helen soon after we came to Vestal as she was a vibrant member of the University Womens' Book Group. I really enjoyed knowing her for many years. When we discovered that Jack and Larry shared the same birthday (Nov. 5) we often had dinner together on their day and, in fact, one time I believe Larry (Jr) was in town and joined us with his wife. Vestal was indeed blessed to have had them as residents and the Vestal Historical Society and the Vestal Library will forever be in debt to them. We will make a donation to the Vestal Library in Helen's name. Our sympathy to you all. Joan
