Obituary of Nicholas James Macri

Nicholas J. Macri passed away on August 7, 2009, at Morristown Memorial Hospital at the age of 92 years.
Born in New York City, he had lived in Brooklyn, Orange, NJ, and for the last 51 years, in Parsippany, NJ.
Nicholas served in the US Army during WWII where he was decorated with the Purple Heart among other honors. He was in Patton's Third Army, served in the second wave at Normandy, and lost an eye during the Battle of the Buldge. He was an advocate for the Disabled American Veterans.
For most of his life he was self employed including work as a long shoreman and a carpenter. He had a keen intellect and was beloved by many people. He was proud of both his Italian heritage and his service for the United Sates during WWII.
Nicholas is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary (Santostefano) of Parsippany, his sons, Vincent Macri, Esq. and daughter in-law, Diane of Warren, Anthony Macri, Esq. and daughter in-law, Frieda, of Randolph; Nicholas R. Macri and daughter in-law, Maryann Macri, of Brick, NJ; and Stephen Macri of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his four grandchildren Vincent, Nicholas (his name sake), Alicia, and Adena, and his beloved dog Buster.
He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 11, at 2:30PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834. Friends may visit prior to the service from 12 - 2:30PM.
