I am staring at Richie's photo and have read his obituary over and over in disbelief. I just received a call from a MetLife friend who gave me the shocking news. I worked with Richie and Denise at MetLife until 1993. He was the finest boss one could ever have. We shared many laughs and I know that he grieved terribly when his beloved Denise died. Every December 14th I called Richie to wish him a Happy Birthday and to catch up on what was happening with him. He was too special a friend and I cherished our happy memories. I spoke to him for about an hour on December 14, 2008 and heard about his last cruise. My lasting memory is that he was a fine human being who was deeply in love with Denise, his children, brothers and the Day and Snellings families. I am honored to have known him and I am so glad that I was able to make him laugh heartily during our last conversation. Richie, you will be greatly missed by all who knew you. It will be very hard for me not to hear your voice on December 14. May you and Denise rest in eternal peace.

We were shocked and saddened to hear about Rich’s passing. We both worked with Rich at MetLife for many years. Those of us at MetLife that had the pleasure of working with Rich knew him to be hard working, ethical and caring. You could always count on Rich to do the right thing. I hope his family can take comfort in knowing that Rich was well liked and respected by his colleagues as a co-worker, boss and more importantly as a friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

I was saddened to hear about Rich's passing. I worked with Rich on the Compliance Unit for 13 years. I have many good memories of the time we spent together. In addition to his dedication he always brought his wit and humor to the job.
I missed him terribly when he retired and miss him even more now as a friend.
I hope Rich's family can take some comfort knowing that he was so admired and respected by his co-workers.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family.

Robert, Richard, Michael, Kenneth, Steven and Ronnie,
I was so shocked to hear of Richards untimely passing. It seems like yesterday we were at Uncle Earl's funeral and talking about the past. Although we didn't share a lot of time together, I am still saddened by the news. May God continue to comfort you in the days to come. He is in a great place now, no pain, and catching up with Uncle Earl and Aunt Edna.
Love you guys!!!
Johnny and Sheryl

Dad,
I don't even know where to begin. It still doesn't seem real. I keep going over Christmas Eve in my head. What would I have said if I knew that was the last time I would see you? I love you Dad. I will miss you so much. I feel lucky that I got to see you the other day. I feel even more fortunate that Trevor got to see you. We've told him that Papa is in heaven with Denise and God and that you are now an angel with wings. While I am deeply saddened I take solice knowing that you are with Denise. I know the last year has been very hard for you, but now you can finally rest in peace. I'll miss you Dad.
Love your son - Scott

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself … any man’s death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Rich's death. I have been working with him on a project this past fall. We only spoke via the phone, but it was enjoyable getting to know him and it was fun to do the tasks with him. I heard all about his trip and it sounded perfect for relaxing. He was looking forward to celebrating the holidays with his family on his return.
I was looking forward to hearing from him when he signed in again in January. His death dampens the joy of beginning a new year. He will be missed.

Richard My Friend, My Brother,
You will be sorely missed. You were the brother that I never had. Our many trips with you and Denise to places far and wide were always filled with fun and excitement. The Y2K Pananma Canal Cruise and your missing luggage. The Iguassau Falls trip where to slid down that hill of red clay mud. The Antarctica Cruise and your falling out of the Zodiac. Not to forget our most recent adventures on the Trans-Atlantic Cruise. I will cherish each and evey memory that I have of you and Denise. I know you are back with her once again where you belong. We all know how much you truly missed her. I know that your broken heart is finally mended and that you are at Peace.
I shall keep the promises that I made to you and Denise and take you both wherever we travel.
I Love You, Miss You and have lost a good friend and a brother.
Sleep well my friend.
Your Brother in Law,
Billy
