Obituary of Dorothy Allen Carroll

Dorothy Allen Carroll 85 retired Health and Physical Education Teacher Dorothy Allen Carroll, 85, died on Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Franciscan Oaks Health Care Center in Denville, NJ. Born and raised in Boonton Township, she lived in Morris Plains and Denville. Mrs. Carroll was a graduate of Panzer College and received her Bachelor Degree in Health and Physical Education. She was employed as a Physical Education Teacher first at Morris Catholic High School and then for twenty five years in Wharton and Montville Public Schools. She taught and registered children for swimming lessons for the Indian Lake Community Club. She also taught swimming for some thirty years as a Red Cross Instructor. Mrs. Carroll was an active member of the Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Carroll had a life long interest in Nature, belonging to the Audubon Society. She loved flowers, birds, hiking, and travel. Mrs. Carroll recently traveled to China and Japan. Dorothy was a member of the Church of the Savior in Denville since 1959. Mrs. Carroll was predeceased by her beloved husband William F. Carroll Sr., and by her oldest son John Patrick Carroll. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen “Kitty” Wince and her husband Mark, and two sons, William Carroll Jr. and his wife Michelle, Thomas Carroll and his wife Chrissy, her daughter-in-law Doreen Carroll, her sister Betty Allen, and grandchildren, Sean Carroll and his wife Betina, William Carroll and his wife Lynne, Matthew Carroll, Maxwell Carroll, Thomas Carroll, Jessie Wince and Raquel Carroll, and well as step grandchildren, Johnnie, Steven, Eric, Chris, Stephanie, and Clair. Dorothy is also survived by her dear cat, King Tut. Dorothy’s funeral service will be conducted at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle on web site in memory of Dorothy), on November 26th Wednesday at 8:00pm. Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday from 4:00 to time of services at 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association, 1915 Rt. 46 West, Ledgewood, NJ 07852.
