We send our sympathies to all who knew, loved, and will always remember Cathy Lee Braunlin Iczkowski. She had great passion for all she did while we were all together in Pompton Lakes and by all reports that is how she lived her entire life. Whether helping as a nurse, as an advocate for those with Lupis, or as a friend and family member, I am told Cathy always acted with knowledge, dedication, and that passion we remember. Despite our lighting these virtual candles, the world is a little dimmer now.

We have lost one of our own and there is little that can be said to bring comfort to her family and closest friends but by lighting this candle, I hope that it conveys my affection for her, my sympathy to her family, and that the light that emanated from within her, which was seen every time she smiled, would remain bright in our minds and hearts.
There too many memories of Cathy but here are a few:
--Her laughter.
--Seeing her with her best friends Barb and Jill. This trio remained true through it all.
--The fun visits to the shore house she shared with the girls.
--Her wedding at Pompton Reform Church on a beautiful fall day.
--Leading the color guard on the field and in parades, and twirling that sabre(which showed the girl had guts from way back).
--Her joy in being a pediatric nurse and her desire to help others who confronted the same hand that she had been dealt.
I will never forget her grace, sparkling smile, easy spirit, and caring demeanor, which made her a perfect fit for her chosen profession and a friend to so many who will miss her and who will think of her with love and respect.

I have many fond childhood memories of Cathy. I think we met when I was 4yrs old. I will remember birthday parties at her house forever, especially the time we woke up to 20 or so inches of snow on the ground the next morning. Band trips and German club we great memories of Cathy too. I will remember her as a great Christian and I know she is smiling down on all of us waiting until we see her again.

Cathy,
Although many years have passed since our friendship began in grade school at some little kids birthday party, your smile and your laugh are forever etched in my mind.
I have not seen you in forever, but your picture today made me feel as if I saw you yesterday.
Our world is one less beautiful soul brighter today and your world has become one soul better.
May God continue to use your beauty in ways that we can only dream about.
Rest in peace dear friend.

Will Lampe posted a condolence
Thursday, April 24, 2008
I never could get used to hearing her called "Cathy Lee"--to me, she was always just Cathy Braunlin.
I met Cathy in 1st Grade at Lincoln School in Pompton Lakes. I remember having a plaster-of-Paris kit, and making a pin for Cathy out of a scallop shell and a safety pin. After I gave it to her, she told me "Some of the kids think this means we're 'going out'--does it?" I told her no, of course not; but I think maybe if I'd been a little older (or braver) that I would have said yes!
Cathy was always a good friend--her bright smile was a blessing to see, and she could always be counted on to be forthright in her opinions. I remember a photo of Cathy in our high school yearbook, in her band uniform, standing proud and happy. That's the way I'll always remember her. She was a beautiful and wonderful person, and I know many lives were touched by her love--in school, in church, and in her nursing career.
I know the recent past has been very difficult for your family--I pray God's blessings on all of you as you grieve the loss of your wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
In His Name,
Will Lampe

I was so saddened to hear of Cathy's passing. Cathy and I attended Pompton High and were on color guard together. We were never particularly close, but I have one memory that has stood out in my mind to this day of her kindness and compassion. About 2 years after we graduated I was treated for cancer. I had lost touch with most everyone I graduated with so, to my knowledge, no one was aware of my health problems. Somehow Cathy heard and when we saw each other at our reunions she made a point of asking about my health and how I was doing, it seems like such an insignificant thing, but it meant so much to me. It is truly my loss that I didn't take the opportunity to get to know her better and return the favor in her time of suffering. My heart goes out to your entire family.

I first met Cathy Lee in 1984 while we were both working the same private duty pediatric case in Oak Ridge. We stayed in touch after that case for quite a few years, but after a while our contact was limited. Cathy Lee had a strong spirit, and was always a loyal friend with a warm and caring heart. She left an imprint on my heart and life that will forever be a part of who I am and how I interact with others as I continue in life. Despite not keeping in touch the past years except an occasional Christmas card, I have thought of her often, and will always be grateful for having known her. My sincerest sympathies to Ed and Cathy Lee's family. May you find confort in knowing that Cathy Lee's time on earth left a positive, lasting imprint to many. Her kindness will live on in others, and she will forever be a shining star in the sky watching over all of you.

I can't remember NOT knowing Cathy and Joanie. Since I only had a brother, they were the "sisters" I never had... Joanie the big sister and Cathy the little sister. I always looked forward to going over to the Braunlins house because I would be able to spend time with the girls. As we got older and Joanie went on to be a teenager, it was Cathy that stuck with me. I'll always remember our New Years Eve celebrations and watching the Wizard of Oz every year. Although I moved away many years ago, my mom always kept me updated on Cathy's illness. It always made me a little sad to know that Cathy couldn't continue her nursing career because she was one of the most caring girls I ever knew. Cathy Lee, you're in a better place... but you'll sure be missed down here.
