Donald DJ Jackowski 56, loved to share knowledge Donald DJ Jackowski, 56, died on Monday April 14, 2008 at Saint Clares Hospital, Denville, NJ. DJ was born in Dover, grew up in Whippany and Denville and was a resident of Rockaway Township since 1989. He was a graduate of Whippany Park High School Class of 1970. DJ was the co-owner and operator of Denville Transmission since founding it 1981 and an expert diagnostician of mechanical problems. DJ was a member of the Rockaway Township Sportsmen, and he enjoyed building and hunting with revolutionary era rifles. He was a nationally renowned expert specialist in building Ford Flathead engines for drag racing, two of his cars are among the quickest in world for the type of engine. He also enjoyed classic cars and motorcycles, including his 1957 Harley Davidson and red 1934 Ford Coupe commonly seen around town. He loved to share his knowledge of cars and engines through the internet and on the phone, always willing to talk out a problem with anyone in need. He loved learning anything and everything, reading as much as he possibly could. He was a collector of World War II memorabilia as well as general Americana. Don never met a tool that he didnt like. His brother Ted Jackowski in 1985 predeceased him. His wife, Karen Comiskey Jackowski of Rockaway Township, his children, April Santangelo and her husband John of West Milford, Zachary Jackowski of Cambridge, MA and Cory Anne Jackowski of Rockaway Township, his grandchildren, Jake, Ashley, and Tyler, his father, Theodore Jackowski of Whippany, his sister Karen Dobbins of Randolph, as well as his two loving dogs Bean and Lucky survive him.
