To strasznie przykre ze los nie pozwolil nam sie wiecej poznac. Jednak zostawil po sobie slad tu w Polsce i zawsze bedziemy go pamietac. Skladam kondolencje i wyrazy wspolczucia dla zony i dzieci Donalda. Niech spoczywa w pokoju. Tom i cala rodzina z Polski.
I had the opportunity to get to know Donald through the Internet two months ago. We exchanged several emails. He was very interested in the history of the Jackowski family and his Polish roots. It is terrible that fate never allowed us to get to know him more. However, he left his “footprint” here in Poland and we will always remember him. I send my condolences and feelings of compassion to the wife and children of Donald. May he rest in peace. Tom and the whole family in Poland.

For those who were able to attend my Dad's funeral this past Friday, will agree, it was 'ONE FOR THE BOOKS'!!!! Even the funeral director told me, 'it was one of the most Top Rated funerals he's ever had there'. He told me that people were standing in line out of the front door!!! LOL Everything from that 'one flickering lamp' (which we all thought to be my Dad letting us know he was there with us) to my Aunt Leslie taking off her shirt during her speech to reveal the tank top she had made in my father's honor, (which received a standing ovation) to Johnny surprising me with his speech about my father (which brought tears AND laughter to all)..... to the KICK ASS party we had afterwards at my parents house...which went well into the night! It was truly a Day and Night that my father would have LOVED and I'm sure he 'DID'!!!!!!! It was in true 'DJ' style from start to finish!!!!

My fondest memory of "Flatdog", as we called him on the HAMB, took place one hot afternoon at the Jalopy Showdown in York Spings PA. I offered him a cookie outta large tupperware container. He politely took one and I said "Go ahead and take another, they're small." As he was eating one cookie with his right hand, he took another cookie with his left and then slid that extra cookie into the front pocket of his white shirt saying "I'll save this one for later". As I looked at the long chocolate stripes going down from his shoulder to the pocket I pointed at the chocolate mess and stated "Your wife is going to kill you" at which he replied...."Naw, she's use to it!". We all got a great big laugh outta that.
He was a great friend who will be truely missed.

DJ was a an old friend to our industry of transmission rebuilders, personally and professionally.I cannot remember a time when I went to the shop and he was not there.I was going to call last week and invite him to a race with my kid and I,he always asked about the kid and his racing and then he would go into talking about his kids and college and flathead fords and before you know it an hour or two goes by.Time marches on and waits for no one but there will be an empty spot in time where "DJ" set down his last wrench.Rest in Peace buddy and our prayers to your loved ones

I knew Don from the Rockaway Township Sportsman Hunting Club. My dad and I would see him, Lucky and his son on Saturday mornings, pheasant hunting. He always had a special treat for the dogs either kielbasy or chunks of chicken. Sometimes We would all stand around after the hunt talking about how we would cook our Pheasant. He always raved about his wife's Pheasant Marsala.
I won't be able to attend the service but I send my regards to his family. Don was a nice man. He will be sadly missed.
