Obituary of Robert Julius Ziese

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert J. Ziese, our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Robert passed away at home on Saturday, October 7th, 2023.

Robert was born on April 26, 1942 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Julius and Florence Ziese (Rudow). He was raised in Union City where he graduated from Emerson High School and met his future wife, Kathryn Goldbach. After high school, he began working right away while taking night classes to get his engineering degree from NCE. A couple of years later he decided to change careers and graduated with his Doctorate of Law from Seton Hall University. He later opened his own law practice where he practiced for the rest of his life.

He enjoyed life and loved spending time with his family. He and Kathy enjoyed ballroom dancing for many years. Robert was a train enthusiast, even building a 12 x 15 foot model railroad in his basement. He was a member of Northern NJ N Trak train club. Most of all, he loved spending time with grandchildren.

Robert’s memory will live on through his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Ziese; his devoted children, Donna Ertl and her husband Martin and Kevin Ziese and his wife Nancy; and his sister Gail Feeney and her husband Brian. He also is survived by his loving grandchildren, Timothy Ertl (Dianna Henao), Kaitlyn Bausch (Daniel), Joseph Ertl, Nathan Ziese, and Sarah Ziese.

A Memorial Visitation for Robert will be held on Saturday, October 14th, 2023, from 2 PM to 4 PM with a service at 3:30 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services. All are welcome to come and celebrate the life of this special man.
