To the whole Milligan Family please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of Scott. We just found out today that he passed. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend in the 70’s and 80’s. He would visit us at dinner time every night. Never wanted to eat, just talk. He hosted the neighborhood on Christmas Eve. We have many happy memories on Skidmore Trail. RIP

HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY SCOTTIE BOY. We both miss you and all the good times, laughter and fun we all had together. Keep them laughing in heaven pal. We love you.
"I'M FREE"
The poem by Anne Lindgren Davison
Don't grieve for me for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the close of day
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life's been full, I've savored much
Good friends, good times, my loved one's touch
If my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart, rejoice with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

I feel like Scott was part of my family, and well, he was. My extended family. I love the Milligans like I love the Romanos. I will always remember Scott's great sense of humor. So funny and irreverent.
And I loved seeing him so happy as a grandpa. He was simply the best. May his memory be a blessing.

Growing up in Denville in the 50’s and 60’s and living on The Hill, Beacon Hill, was something Scott and I looked back on many times. We shared fond memories of our neighbors and friends, schools, teachers and classmates. Then, of course there were all the neighborhood fun times . . . Clark’s pond, ice skating, snow days spent sleigh riding, Connie’s store, and the list goes on. Scott had many more tales of shenanigans than I did ( surprise!) We always enjoyed reminiscing about the old days. My family moved to Florida in 1970 and Scott did come down to visit but we had two different versions of that and it became a joke we liked to replay.
Fast forward over 40 years and voilà facebook helped us reconnect. The first catch up phone call was a 4 hour marathon call one night while he was plowing snow. We made but a dent in what had gone on in our lives since 1970 but one thing was sure , we were both excited to have the chance to reconnect with an old friend. We kept in good touch from then on. Fortunately Scott and Wendy moved to Florida and it was great to spend time together while they were here.
Scott always made me laugh and always had an interesting story to share.
He loved his family with his whole heart and he lit up whenever he talked about them..
It was plain to see that Pappy was his most cherished title and that Nicole and Shawn were no doubt the biggest pride of anything he accomplished in life. The relationship that Robin, Scott and Penny share is a beautiful sibling bond Milligan style.
Scott, I will miss the calls and texts but I will be talking to you so please keep an ear out . One day we will meet again and until then I already miss you. I know that your loved ones now have you watching over and I pray for their hearts to be comforted and their memories to hold them for now.
Godspeed dear friend.

Scott was a client that became a great friend!! His smile and laugh was contagious as well as his dry, subtle (or not so subtle) sense of humor. He told a great story and always made me laugh. He will be always remembered and forever missed!
With such sadness,
Diane

To Wendy and Robin and Penny and Nicole and Shawn, I’m so very sorry for your loss. Scott was the real deal: smart (as well as a smart-ass, and I know he wouldn’t mind my saying that, because he was also honest to a fault), both hard-working and fun-loving and a charmer to boot. Though I hadn’t seen him in some years, Scott, like all you “Milligans” was the kind of person you just fell right back in with when you were around him, no matter how long it had been. I don’t know what you’d call it: an Irish gift of the gab, or just an extraordinary ability to meet you where you were, whoever you were. The poet Raymond Carver wrote a short verse at the end of his life in which he asked,
And did you get what you wanted
in this life even so?
I did.
And what was it?
To be beloved on this earth
To call myself beloved.
You were, Scott. You surely were.

The first time I met Scooter I was maybe 14 or 15. He was Big back then, with sparkly blue eyes and a warm laugh. He was one of my friend’s Dad… and we were a rowdy bunch to say the least! He always joined in the fray, made some great Dad jokes, and made me feel welcome in his home. As a young adult, he was one of the First, along with his Wendy, to lovingly and without condition accept my much older then boyfriend (now husband) into our circle. He once again Welcomed him into his home for dinner, for laughs, and with kindness. I always enjoyed going joke for joke with Scott. He could always keep up, always keep us cracking up. I’m so very sorry for this huge loss to all his close family and friends. I am truly hugging you all and wishing you peace.

The first time I met Scott was when he came in to Seacoast Bank in 2017. Our banking relationship turned into Scott and Wendy becoming family. Scott would just stop into the bank because he was in the area. When I started working for Synovus, Scott followed me there and continued his visits with Wendy. We could talk for hours about life, the kids, Faye and then eventually Mavie. He would light up talking about those girls! When Scott and Wendy moved to Alabama, we still kept in touch. Our weekly Friday calls, texting pictures of the house or Mavie playing, you giving me a hard time about being on vacation. All of it is going to be deeply missed! It was such a pleasure to know Scott, the love he showed to everyone and especially the ones he held close to his heart was impeccable! His laughter was contagious and his smile would light up any room. Just an all around amazing guy!
You will be deeply missed by so many! Until we see you again ❤️
