Obituary of Silvia Ann Dachisen

Please share a memory of Silvia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Silvia Dachisen passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Merry Heart Assisted Living in Succasunna. She had shared 80 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born in Dover to the late Andrew and Aida Corvi, Silvia was the only child to bless their household. The Corvi family began their journey together in Boonton, where they lived in close proximity to their extended family. Silvia attended high school at Mount St. Dominic Academy and graduated in 1960. She met the love of her life, her best friend and true soulmate, Harry Dachisen, at a CYO dance when they were both teenagers. They were married on June 13th, 1964 and started their family in Rockaway Township. Silvia was a loving mother and was devoted to her four children. For 15 years, she was a Special Education Paraprofessional at both Dennis B. O’Brien Elementary and Copeland Middle School. Later in her career she transitioned to working for St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville in the Medical Billing department. A devout Catholic, Silvia was a member of St. Clement Pope & Martyr Church, a Daily Communicant, member of the Light of Christ prayer group, and Bible study member. She lived everyday serving God, her family, and community.

Silvia was social, friendly, and loved meeting new people. Her house was always open to family and friends no matter the occasion. When her children were growing up, her house was the place to be because she was always so warm and welcoming. These memories are most treasured by all.  Silvia’s happy place was the beach; her favorite being Seaside Park, where the family vacationed every summer for over 40 years. Silvia also took delight in long walks, shopping in town and spoiling her family dogs.

She leaves only joyful memories to her beloved husband of 58 years, Harry; her adored children, Andrew (Megan) Dachisen of Denville, Milissa Dachisen of Roxbury, Michele (Jeff) Stone of Roxbury, and Jennifer (Sean) Coakley; her cherished grandchildren, Conor, Owen, Aidan, Caleb, and Luke Dachisen, Matthew and Kevin Stone, and Maeve, Colin, and Keira Coakley. She felt a special kinship to her dear siblings-in-law and deep affection for her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd from 4 – 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 23rd at 10 am at St. Clement Pope & Martyr Roman Catholic Church, 154 Mt Pleasant Ave, Dover, NJ 07801. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Boonton.
