Contributions to the tribute of Thomas Joseph Charette

I want to express my condolences to my good friend Rick Charette and his family in regards to their loss of their wonderful Father Tom Charette and their Mother . As a Sales Representative of a Distributor supplying some of Tom’s products that he retailed through his store i.e Duffield’s Hardware — I got to develop a terrific enjoyable friendship with both Tom and Rick . I enjoyed this relationship so much that I structured my daily sales calls to always see them last so that I could spend more time with both Tom and Rick . Tom was such a gentleman and so enjoyable to be around . Tom’s knowledge and experiences lent itself to great storytelling and humorous conversations. Tom was terrific with his customers that patronized his store. He was always able to help them in their hardware , paint , or power equipment needs. I remember being with Tom and Rick at the closing of Duffield’s Hardware in 2001. The attendance by all of their customers from Morris Plains and the surrounding areas on that day was awesome to witness. They came to share their respect and love for Tom for all the years he serviced their needs. I recall many public officials and even the Mayor in attendance that day .They were all letting Tom know that he would be missed. I am glad that Tom carried on from that day for another twenty years to enjoy a full retirement and spend time with his sailing sloop , grown children , grand children , and great grandchildren.
