Condolences on your loss of John, who was a master plumber and salesman who competently installed my latest boiler with his sons after convincing me of his ideas for my situation. I enjoyed talking to him because of his knowledge of good practices and proper methods and was inspired to paint my indoor fuel oil tank based on his observations. I will miss his knowledgeable conversations with me.

There are some people that you meet and you know you are going to like them, instantly. John was one of those people, without a doubt. John & Lirelle were kind enough to open their home to me when I would come to NJ for work. Over that time, I got to spend some time in the garage with John talking about Mustangs (I owned a beat down 67' Mustang) and his motorcycle. but, more importantly, I got to meet and share some time with a truly kind person.
One time, when I was staying at their home, there was a very large snow storm. John and I and his son spent several hours digging out the vehicles up their steep driveway. We worked tirelessly digging out the driveway and I made sure I kept up with John as he worked at a fast pace to make sure all was clear. But, the thing I remember most was that John had already shoveled the walk for me to get from the basement to the driveway, before I was able to come out and help. You could tell that he just always put others first.
John is going to missed dearly by all who met him. He was one of the good guys and it was just really nice to meet one of the nicest men I have ever met.
Rest in Peace, John!

A note to my younger brother, from a different mother.
Back in 1991 when you first came to replace the boiler in a house I recently purchased you were working for Zuder plumbing and heating. Paul Zuder came in, sold the job and left.
When you came in, I had my doubts about such a young guy being able to handle a complex oil to natural gas conversion job properly. Never were my doubts so misplaced!
By the time you were done, you did your job with amazing attention to detail and pride! I had never seen such work, everything symmetrical, neat and made easy for future service.... you were the one that made your bosses estimate a bargain.
It was clear that you loved your work and you were extremely enthusiastic and talented. I even remember Paul Zuder being a little annoyed that you spent a little extra time and material.
I’ll never forget that!
It was easy to see that you were going to excel in your profession. Even then it was clear you were a professional and not just an employee.
Less than two years later after having a failed original installation at my new Auto shop, you were able to come in and redesign a system that would hold up under the harshest of conditions at my shop. In 15 minutes you visualized and later that same day, installed a system that lasted decades!
An engineer, for the building designed the original system that lasted all of 14 months! And you did this in your head in 15 minutes! Who needs an engineer when all I needed was you to think about it for 15 minutes?
You have an incredibly strong work ethic and an incredibly strong love for your family. You’re always tough on the outside but I knew you wore your heart on your sleeve like most of us.
I know you were at times tough on the one’s you love only because you love them so much. You only wanted them to be the best that they could achieve. I did the same when I could with my family. You even enjoyed vintage Mustangs! We had a lot in common. It was around that time that we became fast friends.
Back in the day there was something called Vince Lombardi time. That simply meant
“If you were not 15 minutes early you’re 15 minutes late!”
But then there was “Klein time”!
I’m ashamed to admit I never fully was fully able to obtain the level of “Klein time!”
That literally means, up at the crack of dawn and on the job before any mere mortal’s alarm clock even go off!
When I had my shop I thought I had a fairly strong work ethic. Over the years I learned to aspire to your work ethic John.
You have an incredible drive that’s admirable to say the least.
I recently, once again, saw how important family was when we went to the shooting range in Randolph. I could see how important it was for you to spend time with your son.
It was heart warming to see how incredibly happy you were after that day. That was a great day John!
Over the years I learned you were the type of guy that would give someone the shirt off your back, and then give the T-shirt underneath to someone else. When times got rough you were the guy that I could count on... Always...!
I wish I had a nickel for every time that you came back from a job and didn’t charge someone. Usually that someone obviously was someone in need. “I didn’t have the heart to charge them” you would tell me. In reality you didn’t charge them because you had a heart of gold!
You’ve told me over the years more times than I can count.
Sometimes it was a simple thing that you figured out that the last two plumbers failed to fix.
Some people just go and do a job.
You had a knack for your profession!
Most other businesses would toot their own horns to make the world aware of just a 10th of what you would do on a regular basis! Nobody really knew just how good you really were!
Now that you’re with Shawn in heaven, I am sure Heaven’s needs will be fully taken care of.. I can just imagine you and Shawn building the next 1968 Mustang fastback together.
One thing I’d say for sure, if Heaven is getting a little lax,
I’m sure you will have them on “Klein time” in no time!
You will be sorely missed my brother, you were truly one of a kind. You were the kind of true friend that only comes once in a lifetime! It was my honor to have known you and to be able to call you friend!
Godspeed John Klein, and Rest In Peace... you deserve that more than anybody I know....

I went to school with John since 7th grade. We lived in the same town and I would see him periodically at Quick Check and even working on my neighbors plumbing. He always remembered me and we would catch up each time. He loved his wife with all his heart. He will be missed dearly. Prayers to his family.

I met John years ago when I hired him to install a furnace in one of my old bosses rental properties, I told him if he would come down on his price to match the low bidder that I would guarantee him all the properties for a year. He took me up on that offer though I think at times he may have regretted that decision but he was to nice to say anything and when I called him after I moved to FL to help out my stepmother he went to help her right away. I am so sorry for the families loss will keep you in my prayers during this trying time.
