Karen Jensen passed away on March 6, 2008 at St. Clares Hospital in Denville, NJ. She was 59 years old.
She was born in Morristown and lived in Denville for the past 25 years.
Karen holds a BS degree in Business Management from the College of Saint Elizabeth. She also holds an AA degree in psychology from County College of Morris, holds an FLMI designation from the Life Office Management Association, and holds an IDMA designation from the Insurance Data Management Association.
She held memberships in the NJ Association of Women Business Owners, the NJ Association of School Administrators, the International Human Resource Information Management Society, the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association, the American Society of Training and Development and the Association of Contingency Planners-Garden State Chapter.
Karen held a special Certificate in dance and gymnastics from the Dance Teachers Association of America, and was recognized by the Dance Educators Association.
Karens professional career spanned several fields. She was a Field Director for the Morris Area Girl Scouts as well as the Delaware Valley Girl Scouts. She directed resident camp for Delaware Valley.
She began her career in the insurance field as a Manager with Mutual of America in New York City. She next moved to Charter Security Life Insurance, which later became a part of Metropolitan Life Insurance. She rose through the ranks to Vice President level and finally to Senior Vice President and member of the Board of Directors for the Consolidated International Insurance Group.
In 1992 she created her own consulting firm, Custom Corporate Services, which she ran successfully for 15 plus years. The company worked closely with a wide variety of businesses throughout the United States as well as abroad.
Karen is survived by her life partner, Betty Lee Watson; her mother, Theresa Jensen; her sister, Elaine Nocella; a niece, 2 nephews, a great niece, 3 great nephews, 2 aunts, and 42 cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
