Sheila A. Kaufmann (Kenny) passed away at St. Clares Hospital in Denville on March 2, 2008. She was 81 years old. Born in Douglaston, L.I., NY, she spent many years raising her children in Denville, NJ and then moved to Newton, NJ. She returned to Denville in 1998 to be nearer to her family again. She received her bachelors degree in education from Fordham University in 1948 graduating "Magna Cum Laude." She taught grammar school in the early years of her marriage while her husband attended Georgia Tech. She raised six children and recalled the happiest moments of her life were their births and her marriage day. Once her own children were grown, spending time with her grandchildren provided her with her greatest pleasures. An oil painter, avid gardener, bird hobbyist, accomplished sewer, and reader of philosophy and history, she instilled in her children a love of nature and of learning. Remembered for her quiet and patient care, fortitude and independence, and curious intellect, her family thanks her for the many gifts that she gave to them. She is predeceased by her brother Thomas and her sister Joan. Her husband of 34 years, Walter E. Kaufmann of Denville, NJ survives her. Her children Dr. Walter (& Cutty) Kaufmann of Montague, NJ, Anne Kaufmann of Guilderland, NY, Thomas (& Laura) Kaufmann of Denville, NJ, Laura Kane (& Skip) of Greeley, CO, Drs. Julie Kaufmann (& Geoff) of Boston, MA, and Joseph (& Toni) Kaufmann of Denville, NJ survive her. Her grandchildren Walter, Cara, Marc, Alex, Brianna, Amy, Andrew, Eric, Tara, Trisha, Zachary, Jacob, Nicholas, Joseph, and Alexandra also survive her as well as her sisters Moira (& Jack) Schultz of L.I., NY, and Carol (& John) Christie of Arlington, TX and 8 Nieces & Nephews. Funeral from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ www.normandean.com on Wednesday March 5, at 9AM for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church in Denville at 10 AM.
