Harry August Haakonsen died on Wednesday October 9, 2002. He was 70 years old. Born in Kristiansand, Norway, he moved to the United States in 1934, living in Brooklyn, NY, Atlantic City, NJ, Lake Telemark & Mt. Lakes, NJ prior to moving to Boonton Twp., NJ in 1986. He had owned & operated many various businesses in New Jersey through out his life. He was a member of Jephthah Lodge of the Masonic Order, and NorBu Lodge of the Sons of Norway, as well as the Community Church of Mountain Lakes. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan (Jacobsen), his daughter, Joanne Olsen, & son-in-law James Olsen, his son Karl Sigurd Haakonsen, his five grandchildren, Michael, Kahri, Karl James and Kjell Olsen, and Veronica Haakonsen. His sister Anne Louise Andersen, & brother-in-law Ernst Andersen also survive him. Other survivors include many dear nieces & Nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Community Church of Mountain Lakes, NJ on Saturday October 12, tentatively at 2:00 PM. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Memorial Fund of the Community Church of Mt.
