I know of no one who has ever met Hobie that could ever forget him. He is one of a kind who loved the fire department. You can ask any chief that was contending with a sizable fire how it felt to have a firefighter with his expeience show up on the scene.
My condolences to the family.

To Diane, Megin and the remainder of the family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Hobie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Nothing made him happier than talking about his family and being with his grandson Billy. At times Hobie could have a gruff demeanor, but under that demeanor was a man who had a great heart and soul. As a firefighter,he was totally devoted to the residents of Denville and the clients at Greystone Psychiatric. He was always willing to help his fellow firefighters out no matter what it entailed. Whether it be someone from within his own department or someone from an outside agency. A good man was taken from this world too soon - Hobie you will always be missed.

Dear All, you know, I keep this little piece of paper in my wallet and I hope that when it is my time to go, my husband and my family will find it and take comfort in it. I thought of it today, and thought it might bring you a little bit of comfort. If you don't mind, I'd like to share it with you.....Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep, I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on the snow,I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush,I am the swift uplifting rush...of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.......I think he is with you always, everywhere and all the time, embrace him. Love and prayers, M&B
