C. Frederick Paulson, 84, died on Sunday Feb. 17, 2008 in Denville, NJ after a short illness. Born in Dover, NJ, Mr. Paulson lived in Summit, NJ and at Halsey Island on Lake Hopatcong before recently moving to Denville. He was in the US Navy during WWII. He was a graduate of Princeton University, with a BSE in Chemical Engineering, and later received his Masters in Chemical Engineering from Princeton as well. While at Princeton he was elected Phi Beta Kappa. An advisor to the Atomic Energy Commission, he worked in the Nuclear Power Division for Westinghouse Electric Company, where he designed the water cooling system for the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise. He worked for many years as the President of the Knickerbocker Annunciator Co., an electronic design firm in New York City, retiring in 2005. He was a Past Commodore of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, and active for many years as a trombonist in the Elusive Eleven Jazz Ensemble in Summit. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Brohmer Paulson, his six children and their spouses, Carl and Jo-Ann Paulson of Johnson City, NY; William and Bonnie Paulson of Naperville, Ill; Anne Paulson and John Lamping of Los Altos, Ca.; Joan and Peter Nix of Mountain. Lakes; Peter and Beth Paulson of Chatham; and Susan and Loring Bowen of Summit. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and one sister, Elizabeth Eppig of Frederick, Md. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Feb. 21, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake RC Church on Windemere Ave. in Mt. Arlington, NJ.
