Obituary of William R. Sheerer

William R. Sheerer, 68, died at his home in Denville following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was born in New York City, but grew up in West New York, NJ moving to Rockaway, NJ in 1966, and later to Denville in 1977.
He graduated from Memorial High School in West New York, NJ and later graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ with a BS in Business Management in 1967.
He had served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960.
He had worked for U.P.S. in Secaucus, NJ as a Customer Service Manager until 1967 when he became the Vice President and Principle of Comet Messenger and Delivery Service in Florham Park, NJ retiring in 1997.
Bill was active in the Denville Kiwanis Club where he had served as a past President and past
Secretary.
He had been a member of the 50th reunion committee for Memorial High School in West New York, NJ.
He had also been a volunteer for the St. Clares Hospital Harvest Festival in Denville for over fifteen years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Mary nee Kearney, his two children Valerie Sheerer of Jefferson, and Christian Sheerer of Denville.Grandfather of Michael, Douglas, and Taylor Leigh. He is also survived by his brother and sisters and their spouses, Doug Duke and Judy Sheerer of Wildwood Crest, NJ, Karen and Stan Berman of Ocala, Fla., Janet Sheppard of Little Ferry, NJ, and Bob and Kathy Sheppard of Maywood, NJ.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Nov. 16, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Denville Community Church 190 Diamond Spring Rd. Denville, NJ.
