Obituary of Russell J. Flanagan

Russell J. Flanagan passed away at his home in Whitehall, PA on February 5, 2008. He was 33 years old. Born in Denville, he had lived in Rockaway Twp., NJ for most of his life before moving to Whitehall, PA 5 years ago. Russell had attended Morris County College, and then studied journalism at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J. where he received his bachelors degree. He had worked for The New Jersey Herald in Newton, N.J for 2 years, and then joined the staff of the Express-Times in Easton, PA, in April 2003 as a police reporter. In October 2005, he was reassigned to the Northampton County Courthouse, covering trials, guilty pleas, sentencing, hearings, civil litigation and the district attorney's office. In his spare time Russ enjoyed writing, photography, music, film, and sports, especially his beloved NY Giants and Yankees. His parents William and Carol Flanagan of Rockway Twp, NJ survive him. He is also survived by his sister Danielle (& Richard) Grayson of Jefferson Twp, his brother Glenn Flanagan of Rockaway Twp, his Godson Liam, his Nephew Derek, his Niece Natalie, his Godmother Pat McGillicuddy of Long Valley, his Godfather Tom Sullivan of Succasunna, NJ and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. Funeral from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ www.normandean.com on Monday February 11, at 9AM for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Clement Pope & Martyr Church in Rockaway Twp, NJ at 10AM.
