Rick Becka posted a condolence

Hello Family of Silvio Clemente. My name is Rick Becka and I was from Madison, New Jersey. Silvio and I went into the Air Force back in 1962. We were best friends and loss touch with each other for many years. Today I was going through old military records and Silvio's name surfaced and I immediately decided to try to find him. I googled his name and was so sad to learn that Silvio passed away back in 2012. Silvio's Air Force Serial Number was AF12663416 and mine was AF12663413. We had an interesting experience when we were in Electronic School at Keesler AFB Mississippi back in 1962 - I think it was about September 1962 time frame. We were rather new students in the Air Force Electronic School and Silvio and I really missed our friends and family in New Jersey - him in Denville and me in Madison. We did a lot of talking and we had Monday off for Memorial Day so we decided to hitch hike from Biloxi, Mississippi all the way to New Jersey. Can you believe we did this? It was a long hard trip. We did this because we were home sick and we thought we could make it up to New Jersey and back in three days. Boy, did we learn a lesson or two! We made it up to New Jersey totally exhausted. Spent a few hours with family and friends and then I had to borrow money to take a plane back to New Orleans and back to Keesler AFB in Mississippi. I don't exactly remember, but I believe Silvio did the same thing. I know we travelled back together on the plane. When we got back we were severely reprimanded for our escapade. Never did that again. After many months of school we finally graduated and that was the last time I saw Silvio. I believe he went to Goose Bay Labador and I went to Osan Air Base, Korea. Never forgot Silvio and retold that story many times during the years that followed. Wanted to let his family know that some old time friends of Silvio are still out here and thinking of a great friend named Silvio Clemente. He was a good man even at the young ages we were back in 1962 and I enjoyed reading about him, even though I was very sad to hear of him passing. I know he will be missed. I hope Silvio's family one day gets a chance to read this narrative. God Bless you Silvio and I am asking that God watches over you and your family. I reside in Tennessee and my thoughts are with you. Love you SIlvio.

Dear Sister Clemente,
I thought of Brother Clemente this morning and looked up this information on the internet. I speak of Brother Clemente often, he was a wonderful person. I know that you think of him as well and I am so happy that I can leave this remembrance so that you know that his many kindnesses touched the lives and hearts of many, and that, like you, we also look forward to seeing him in Paradise.
Take care Dear Sister Clemente. We will all receive the reward if we don't tire out.
Love to you and your family.
Sister Betty Kersey
