Carolyn Ann Letsche (Ognek) at the age of 61 passed away unexpectedly in her home on Monday, December 3, 2012.
She was born in Passaic, NJ, but resided with her family in Clifton for her formative years. As a younger woman she moved to Rutherford for a few years and then after getting married she had lived in Denville for the past 28 years. Carolyn started her career in the insurance field and achieved great success in a mainly male dominated industry for over 25 years. She then continued her education and held a Masters degree in student counseling, which led to her second career of being a teacher. She was a great influence on many of her students at Orange High School and worked there for most of her career before retiring in 2011.
She was a very spiritual person with many strong beliefs and became an elder in the Union Hill Presbyterian Church of Denville. Her life was filled with family and many friends over the years. Some friendships that lasted a lifetime. She touched many lives with her wisdom, humor and love. She was affectionally known as the “captain of the land of misfit toys” or “Mama Dukes”.
