Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Charlie Badois died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the Andover Subacute Care Center in Andover, NJ. Charlie was born in Jersey City in 1927, served in the Army during World War II, became a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, and worked for Maxwell House as a master coffee blender for forty-four years until his retirement in 1987. It was there that he met his beloved wife of forty nine years, Helen (Reed). In 1955, they had their only child, Kathleen. In 1969 he moved his family to Denville, NJ where he lived the rest of his life. He lost his wife, Helen in 2002. Charlie was a kind and gentle man with a smile for everyone. He loved very early morning breakfasts at a local diner. The owners cared for him so much they invited him to the weddings of their children. After retiring, he enjoyed winters in Florida with his wife, TV mysteries, especially Columbo, Yankee games, spiffing up his car, and doting on his grandson, Conor, for whom his daily bagel runs became legendary in the family. Charlie had four brothers and sisters: Florence, Joseph, and Lawrence who died before him and Ruth (Trainor) of Deerfield Beach, FL who survives him. He also leaves his daughter Kathleen Kearns, her husband Charles McMickle, and his grandson, Conor Kearns. Charlies remains will be interred in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America.
