Beloved Mother, Grandmother, And Great Grandmother Esther Egeland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clares Hospital, Dover, NJ. She was 83. Mr. Egeland was born in Lista, Norway; she came to the United States in 1948. After living briefly Brooklyn, NY, she spent most of her life at home in Lake Telemark section of Rockaway Township. She worked at Integrated Electronics, Wharton, NJ from 1973 until 1985, when she retired. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She was the daughter of the late Theodor and Bolette (nee Hansen) Olsen of Norway. One of twelve children, she was predeceased by her brothers Otto, Sigurd, Fritjof, Erling, Harold, Trygve, and Arne. She survived by her children, Kenneth Egeland and wife Susan of Rockaway Township, Turid Rudge and husband Jonathan of Denville, Elaine Provost and husband Roy of Denville, and Joanie OConnor and husband Joseph of Wharton. She is also survived by her grandchildren Erin Egeland Osterhout, Kevin Egeland, Kyle Egeland, Ian Rudge, Trevor Rudge, Derek Rudge, Thomas Provost, Madeline Provost, Danielle OConnor, Joseph OConnor, Steven OConnor, and great grandson Travis Osterhout. Her sisters Oline Lundegaard of Vanse, Norway, Helene Tjorve of Vanse, Norway, and Borgny Larsen of Staten Island, NY, and her brother Einar of Lista, Norway, also survive her. Proud of her Norwegian heritage, she enjoyed cooking and baking wonderful ethnic dishes, as well as celebrating Scandinavian festivals and holidays. A loving and dedicated mother and grandmother, her family treasured the life they lived with her as the true and steady rock in their lives. The funeral will be conducted from the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ (light a candle in memory of Esther on web site www.normandean.com, on Monday Oct.15th at 9:00am for a 10:00AM services at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Green Pond Road, Rockaway Township, NJ. Interment at Marcella Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received on Sunday Oct. 14th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers donations in her name to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church would be appreciated, envelops at funeral home.
