Obituary of Fred J. Sommers

Fred J. Sommers passed away at Morris View nursing home on July 28, 2007.
He was 89 years old.
Born in New York, NY, he moved to the Indian Lake section of Denville, NJ 65 years ago.
He served in the US Army during WWII where he was a prisoner of war interrogation officer and helped to liberate Dachau. He retired as a Major from the Army Reserves.
Fred had a long career as a self-employed silkscreen printer in Denville, NJ before retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2519; he volunteered at St. Clares Hospital, and helped out in various activities for children in Denville such as the Joey Bella Memorial and sports.
His beloved wife Grace predeceased him in 2000.
His children Ernest of Morristown, NJ Henry of Vestille, NY, Kenneth of Freeport, NH and Larry Sommers of Denville, NJ and 8 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild also survives him.
Visitation will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services (www.normandean.com), 16 Righter Ave, Denville on Thursday August 2, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9PM.
