Obituary of Francis X. Black

Francis X. Frank Black Sr., 81, died on Sunday May 27, 2007 at the Holly Manor Center in Mendham, NJ.
Mr. Black was born in Jersey City, and was a resident of Denville since 1957. Mr. Black served in the United States Army during World War II serving in the South Pacific and occupying Japan. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and a Purple Heart. He is retired 16 years as a truck driver for 25 years at the Morristown Lumber Co. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3359 and the Denville American Legion Post 390.
His wife Dolores in 2004 and his son Francis X. Black Jr. in 1989 predeceased Mr. Black. He is survived by his son Joseph Black and his wife Ellen of Rockaway, and his daughter Elizabeth Bakelas and her husband Jim of Denville,two grandsons, Tom and Nicholas Bakelas and a brother Raymond Black of Whiting, NJ.
"In Frank's lifetwo things gave him great pleasure, the company of his two grandsons and also complaining, bringing the latter to a higher form of art".
The funeral will be conducted fro the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ www.normandean.com (light a candle in Franks memory on web site), on Wednesday May 30th at 8:30am for a 9:30am Liturgy of Christian Burial service at St. Marys Church, Denville, NJ. Interment and committal services at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday May 29th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Denville Fire Department Association 2 Indian Road, Denville, NJ 07834 would be appreciated.
