Obituary of Thomas J. Higgins

Thomas J. Higgins, died on Wednesday May 9, 2007 at the St. Francis Health Center in Denville. He was 93 years old.
Born and raised in New York, Tom resided in Derby CT for over thirty years, before moving to Denville three years ago.
Tom worked for over forty years with Met-Life in New York retiring in 1975.
He was a creator of many published crossword puzzles, an avid naturalist, self- taught pianist and an award winning ballroom dancer.
Tom is survived by his wife of sixty-four years Mary (nee OGrady) Higgins, children James K. of Wilmington Delaware, Joan Candee of Huntington CT, Thomas P. of Montclair and Catherine F. Higgins of Upper Montclair.
Also surviving are his grandchildren Kate, Libby, Jimmy, Nancy, Tom, Tim, Claire, Greg, Marielle, and Brian. His Great-Grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, and Finley.
His brothers William and Fr James Higgins S.J. and sisters Catherine Brick, Margaret Touhy, Sister James Catherine O.P., and Mary Mannix predeceased Tom.
A mass of Christian burial will be offered for Tom on Monday May 14 at 9:30am at the Chapel of St. Francis on Pocono Road in Denville. Friends and relatives may visit on Sunday May 13, from 4-7pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville NJ 07834.
