Donald E. Meyers, 84 died at his residence in Mt. Arlington, NJ on Thursday March 15, 2007. Mr. Meyers was born and grew up in Lester, Iowa, was a resident in Rainbow Lakes section of Denville, NJ and in 1957 thru 1985 moved to Clearwater, FL where he was President of the Sun Terrace Casual Furniture Company. After his retirement he was a resident of North Carolina and Georgia and the last several years in Mount Arlington, NJ. Mr. Meyers was a World War II veteran of the US Navy serving as a Lieutant JG in the South Pacific on the USS Shangri-La Air Craft Carrier as a Corsair fighter pilot. He received three air medals and a recommendation for the Distinguished Flying Cross. Mr. Meyers enjoyed his hobby a wood turner. His wife of 63 years Mrs. Ruth Meyers of Mount Arlington survive him. His two children Cathy M. Glavin of Mount Arlington, Donald E. Meyers II of Gainesville, FL, his grandchildren, Susan Ariale, Heather Lipschutz, Megan Garcia, and Devin Eric Meyers and nine great grandchildren, his sisters, Dorothy Roberts of Sioux Falls, SD, Dolores Gullickson of Hutchinson, KS survive him. One brother and four sisters predeceased Mr. Meyers. Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday March 24th from 2-4pm at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ, www.normandean.com. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society or the Compassionate Care Hospice would be appreciated.
