“What we do in life echoes in eternity,” these words spoken by Maximus Decimus Meridius-the movie Gladiator.
Melissa writes:
A hero isn’t born because he wants to, but rather he needs to. Conflict pushes a hero to fight for the things he loves, whether or not he will survive. He fights to live the day and sleeps next to the ones he loves at night. He lives to be there unconditionally and will not budge or falter, and will protect those in harms way. You were born in this world into loving arms, you walked on foot-side by side with us, you flew into the heavens as you moved on led by the hand of God, and was greeted with open arms as you passed through the gates. My father was everyone’s hero, he will never be forgotten and he will be always loved, and will never be alone. I will miss you hitting me in the head with a cardboard roll once the paper towels were gone, grabbing the “O.S.” handle in my car when I would race around a bend-knocking you to one side of the car, helping you figure out the computer and confusing you even more, making dinner for me before I went to karate, going to my karate tournaments, poking me until I couldn’t laugh anymore, and buying knives and coins for me. I will miss jokes, your tears of laughter, and your endless love and compassion for everyone but yourself. You were our hero, our daily medication of laughter, our father, a husband, and a true family man. We are all here for you, and those who could not be here or bear the heart to say goodbye so soon-will keep you in our hearts and you will stay there for all eternity.
“You are now free; we will meet again, but not yet, not yet.”

My Babe as I sit here crying my eyes out the only thing keeping me going is knowing I will be with you one day again. This was all too sudden, I never even had time to say goodbye. You were my childhood sweetheart, my soulmate, my superman my hero and mostly the wind beneath my wings. You always took care of me, now I have to learn to take care of myself, I don't know how I will do it without you. I love you and miss you more than anything else in this world, I don't know how I will go on without you, I wish I had more time to show you how much you meant to me, please watch over me and guide me through the rest of my life. I love you babe, I love you so much and you will always be my hero.
Your loving wife, Wendy

My father meant a great deal to me and to my family and I'm not sure how we'll be able to fill his absence. He was the first one that we called when we were in distress, and now our Super-man is gone. We will all greatly miss our hero. My father supplied all the humor in our family, and for those of us in my family that aren't as naturally funny, it will be hard, and quiet, and empty.
We're strong & will move on with time.
Rest in Peace, Daddy. You are the most wonderful man I know, and will ever know again. Take care of Bear, B.J., and Taco for us until we see you again. I love you!
Your Loving Daughter,
Amy (Jerger) Troxell
