Chancie Henry (nee Florio) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 27, 2007. She was ninety. Born on Feb. 6, 1917 on Cornelia Street in NYC to Maria and Lorenzo Florio, Mrs. Henry, grew up in Hoboken and lived in Staten Island, Queens, and Ridgefield Park before moving to Madison in 2001. Mrs. Henry graduated from A.J. Demarest High School in Hoboken where she studied Italian and was awarded the prize for excellence in English. Mrs. Henry had a long career as a bookkeeper in Jersey City and Manhattan, working for Celeste Dresses and Robbins Family Enterprises. Mrs. Henry was a member of the Coro DItalia in NYC and enjoyed travel in Europe, the Caribbean, and the Monomonock Resort in the Pocono Mountains where she met her husband Bill. They were married in 1961. In addition to travel, Mrs. Henry found joy in doting on her nieces and nephews. Mr. Henry died in 1983. Mrs. Henry is survived by her sisters Nancy Castellano of Madison (formerly of Ridgefield Park), Yolanda Stanton of Florham Park (formerly of Staten Island and Florida), her brother Lawrence and sister-in-law Ann Florio of Pompton Plains (formerly of NYC and Montclair), nieces Barbara Castellana Stasiak and the late Walter Stasiak of Rockaway Township, Carol Castellano and her husband Bill Cucco of Madison, Donna Florio and her husband Richard McKay of NYC, nephew John P. Castellano and his wife Marisa of Santa Rosa, CA, and her grand-nieces and nephews, Serena, Adam, Melanie, David, and John. Funeral arrangements are through Norman Dean Home for Services on Righter Ave. in Denville. Visitation will be Friday March 2, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison at 11:00 AM Burial will be at St. Vincent Cemetery in Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Parents of Blind Children-NJ, 23 Alexander Ave., Madison, NJ 07940.
