Obituary of Herbert Edsall Krauss

Herbert Edsall Krauss died on January 17, 2007 at Atlantic Hospice in Morristown, NJ. He was born in Newark, raised in Chatham and moved to Boonton Township where he lived since 1962. He graduated Admiral Farragut Academy, attended Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy and graduated Fort Trumball Officers Training School as a Merchant Engineer. He served his country for nearly 10 years as an officer in the Merchant Marines and during World War II, served in the Pacific, Mediterranean Middle East and Atlantic War Zones. He was a salesman for Essex Engraving in Newark and Gotham Graphics in Lyndhurst. In 1966, he formed Edsal Enterprises, which concentrated on selling advertising printing and allied services to large companies. He retired in 2002. A loving, caring and gentle husband, father and grandfather and dear friend, Mr. Krauss is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Edith (Nee Speling), son Kurt, daughter in law Julie and grandson Cole. Mr. Krauss believed in service to his community and was an avid volunteer. He served as co-chairman of numerous fundraising events for his local hospital, was a member of the Juvenile Conference Committee of Boonton Township, Delbarton School Fathers and Friends Committee, Dickinson College Parents Advisory Council and served o the Board of Directors of Peters Valley Craft Education Center for nearly a decade. He was also a member of the F &AM Madison Lodge No. 93. A memorial service will be held at 10:00a.m. on February 17, 2007 at St. Marys Abbey/Delbarton School in Morristown to celebrate Mr. Krausss life.
