Mom Karlsens Obituary
Tilla Sofie Karlsen (nee Grosvold), 94, of Rockaway Township died at her sons home in Newfoundland, NJ on October 3, 2006.
Born in Tonnsberg, Norway, the eldest of 12 children, she emigrated with her family to Canada in 1927. In 1940 she emigrated to the US, becoming an American citizen in 1946.
She married Johan Erling Karlsen at the Norwegian Seamens Church in Brooklyn, NY in 1949 and moved to Rockaway Township in 1956.
Johan predeceased Tilla in 1971. She is survived by her son Roy and his wife Susan, of Newfoundland, NJ and sisters Sylvi, Sofie and Gunvor and brothers Leo, Tollef and Olav of Canada.
Mrs. Karlsen was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) for 50 years.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Green Pond Road, Lake Telemark, Rockaway, NJ at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2006. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Health & Social Ministry of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
