Robert J. Hedigan, 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at his home in Denville surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Newark, he was a Denville resident for 50 years. It was there that he became a 2nd Degree Black Belt and volunteered at St. Clare's Hospital. Prior to retiring in 1996, he worked for 30 years as an HVAC Engineer. Robert, a Navy Veteran, proudly served in the Korean War. He later became the Commander of District #10, VFW Post #3401, and American Legion Post #390; he was a member of the Tin Can Sailors, the Forty & Eight, and was a recipient of the Morris County Distinguished Military Service Medal Recipient. Robert is predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine; he is survived by his daughter Maureen Martino and son Michael, his granddaughter Angela Martino; his sisters Margaret "Peggy" Garrity and Kathleen Rush and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 7th from 1 – 5 pm at the Watnong VFW Post of Morris Plains, 45 Tabor Road, Morris Plains, NJ, 07950. Burial is private and under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services.
